Rest!!
Knowledge is craved and honored, yet it is very troublesome. Knowledge is current and does not allow anyone peace. For knowledge comes first by learning, then it stays through remembering; and these things are activity. And where there’s activity, stress is inevitable; and where there’s stress, the desire is rest. And desire demands further activity. The pursuit of knowledge then is self defeating. You pursue it all your life only to realize the need to let it go. And when realization occurs, folly has been discovered. Therefore knowledge is precious to the fool but foolishness to the wise. For the fool’s folly is discovered through his activity. But the inactivity of the wise causes folly to be absent.
The pinnacle of wisdom is where knowledge becomes bland and uninspiring. This is the point where silence is craved and all knowledge becomes noise. It is the point of peace. At this point, every expression of knowledge is uninteresting. However, it is not because people do not need knowledge, but because seeking and expressing is activity. And a wise man is a man of rest/peace.
On the other hand, those who seek knowledge are not resting. They’re not satisfied: they’re not at peace. Neither are the ones who express it. However the one truly at peace doesn’t desire to know anything anymore. He doesn’t desire to understand anything anymore. He doesn’t desire to express the honor of his salvage. Yet he holds by his nature, the richest form of wisdom. For the highest form of wisdom is silence. And silence is peace. So how could people understand expressions they cannot hear? Yet they keep seeking for peace as though it were active and running from them. How could people truly find peace when they cannot be still.
